DHAKA, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) - Three more prosecution witnesses today testified
in a case lodged over crimes against humanity committed in the capital's
Rampura area during the July Mass Uprising, where a youth hanging from a
building cornice was shot repeatedly and two others were killed.
Of the three, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Md Bayezid Khan and Sub-Inspector
(SI) Md Shahin Miah appeared as prosecution witnesses (PW)-9 and PW-10,
respectively, and testified as seizure list witnesses before the
International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1.
ASI Khan is currently serving as a field officer with the ICT investigation
agency, while SI Miah is posted at Rampura Police Station.
The third witness, Linkon Majhi, a staff nurse at Banasree Farazy Hospital,
testified as PW-11 and described how the hospital received around 80 to 100
gunshot victims on July 19, 2024, and provided them with emergency treatment.
"We gave them primary treatment and referred those in critical condition to
Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Around 4 pm, we received a call on our
landline that a gunshot victim had been left on the roof of a three-storied
building. Dr. Zihad sir, night guard Jahid, another person, and I went there
and brought the victim to our hospital. We gave him primary treatment and
sent him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital by ambulance," he said.
Linkon said he later came to know that the victim they rescued and treated
was Amir Hossain, who had been shot repeatedly by police while hanging from
the cornice of a building.
He further said that later police summoned Dr. Zihad, hospital manager Anwar
Hossain, and ambulance driver Siraj, and pressured them to reveal Amir
Hossain's address.
The prosecution submitted the formal charges in the case on August 7, 2025,
alleging that police fired on a student hanging from a building cornice in
Rampura and killed two others in the area.
On September 18, ICT-1 framed charges against former DMP Commissioner Habibur
Rahman, former ADC of Khilgaon Zone Md Rashedul Islam, former OC of Rampura
Thana Md Moshiur Rahman, former Sub-Inspector Tariqul Islam Bhuiyan, and
former Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Chanchal Chandra Sarkar. Of the five
accused, Chanchal has been arrested and is now facing trial in person.
