RANGPUR, Nov 11, 2025 (BSS) – Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), Professor Dr. Md Shawkat Ali, has said that the application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic research has become crucial nowadays.

“The current world is constantly changing due to technology. In the coming days, those who can adapt to technology will lead the world,” he said.

He made these remarks while attending a workshop titled ‘Application of AI Tools in Academic Research’ held at the virtual classroom of the university's Department of Computer Science and Engineering today as the chief guest.

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university organized the workshop, with its Director, Professor Dr. Md Tajul Islam, in the chair.

Head of the Department of Science and Information Technology of Daffodil International University, Professor Dr. Imran Mahmud, presented the keynote address on the use of AI tools in academic research at the daylong event.

The Vice-Chancellor said that students of all disciplines of BRUR and other universities and higher education institutions need to know about the use of technology and AI to enhance their digital skills.

“Our students should use technology that benefits the country,” he said.

Teachers from different departments of the university participated in the workshop.

Additional Directors of IQAC, Dr. Md Abdur Rakib and Md Sajib Mia, were present at the event.
