ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY, Kushtia, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) - An international seminar titled “Humanity and Islam” was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Sunday morning, jointly organized by the Institute of Islamic Education and Research (IIER) and the International Affairs Division (IAD).
IU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Nakib Mohammad Nasrullah attended the event as the chief guest, while Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M. Yakub Ali and Treasurer Professor Dr Mohammad Jahangir Alam were present as special guests.
Hujjatul Islam wal muslimeen Shahabuddin Mashaekhi Raad, Bangladesh representative of Al-Mustafa international university of Iran, addressed as the keynote speaker at the seminar. The event was presided over by IIER Director Professor Dr Md Mostafizur Rahman, while International Affairs Division director Professor Dr Md Nasir Uddin Mizy delivered the welcome speech and Muhammad Masud Al Mahdi conducted the session.
Speakers at the seminar highlighted that “Major international human rights organizations claim to protect human rights but many of them often serve the interests of powerful nations, raising questions about their neutrality.”
Addressing the seminar, Vice-Chancellor said, “Islam is the final and divinely approved religion by the Almighty. It is the religion of humanity, justice, and respect for all, regardless of religion, race, or class. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) demonstrated that true worship lies in serving humanity. If we uphold these values, we can build a peaceful, compassionate, and morally strong society.”
Shahabuddin Mashaekhi Raad in his keynote speech, said, “We have observed that Islamic principles of human rights differ significantly from those of man-made systems. Islam upholds the principle of Qisas, which is absent in conventional human rights frameworks. While global charters advocate equal rights for men and women, Islam grants rights according to natural roles and dignity. Islam regards women as the “beauty of the home,” while men are entrusted with their safety and responsibility. However, modern rights movements have, in many cases, pushed women into roles that undermine their dignity.
Later, a draft of MoU between Al-Mustafa international university of Iran and Islamic University has been handed over to Vice Chancellor Dr Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah at the seminar room while Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M Yeaqub Ali, Treasurer Professor Dr Jahangir Alam, Institute of Islamic Education and Research (IIER) director Professor Dr Mostafizur Rahman, International Affairs Division director Professor Dr Nasir Uddin Mizy, liaison committee member of Al-Mustafa international university Ashfaqul Alam and Mohammad Mainuddin were present there.
The country representative invited Vice Chancellor Dr Nasrullah to visit Al-Mustafa university and complete further procedures of MoU signing.
