DHAKA, Nov 9, 2025 (BSS) - Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter today said that July martyr Shahriar Khan Anas has shown all the path of a new struggle. 

"By following that path, we will not only protect the country-we will have to protect the environment, and even the entire humanity," she said.

She made these remarks as the chief guest at the plaque unveiling and prayer ceremony of July martyr Shahriar Khan Anas held at Adarsha Academy Gandaria this morning.

The adviser informed that discussions have already been held with the education adviser and other concerned regarding including Anas' letter in the textbook. 

She continued: "Anas' letter is a unique example of foresight. Every effort he made was so that everyone could know the work he did and the values he established. Anas made the nation proud at the cost of his life."

Farida suggested that students could memorize Anas' letter and present it at various programmes in the form of recitation.

Referring to environmental issues, she said that the World Climate Conference 'COP-30' is going to be held in Brazil to combat climate change. 

"But various problems are arising due to the impact of climate change. Fish need seasonal rain to lay eggs. If there is no rain in Ashar, Hilsa cannot lay eggs in Ashwin. Therefore, protecting the climate balance is very important for us," she said. 

She further said that due to climate change, oxygen is decreasing in rivers and seas, salinity is increasing, and sometimes fish are floating in the water-all these are signs of environmental disaster. 

Addressing the students, she said, "As the future generation, you cannot do anything that harms the environment."

Calling for reducing the use of plastic, the adviser warned, "Plastic in the sea, pollution in the Meghna River-these are now realities. Research has found 'microplastics' in Hilsa. This plastic will eventually enter our bodies with food. Therefore, we have to consciously reduce the use of plastic."

The programme was chaired by Adarsha Academy Gandaria President Dr. Muhammad Abdul Mannan. 

Special guests included July Shaheed Smriti Foundation CEO (Chief Executive Officer) Lt. Col. (Retd.) Kamal Akbar, Rahnuma Trust member Arif Sultan Mahmud, and Shaheed Anas' father Sahria Khan Palash, spoke on the occasion.

Dhaka Divisional Forest Officer Mahmuda Roxena Sultana, Adarsha Academy Gandaria representative Jewel Ahmed, teachers, and students, were present.

Earlier, the Adviser unveiled the Shaheed Shahriar Khan Anas plaque at Adarsha Academy Gandaria.
