DHAKA, Nov 8, 2025 (BSS)- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said all religious and ethnic groups in the country will have equal status if BNP comes to power.

"In the future, all people, regardless of their religion and ethnicity will have equal status in this country. There will be no division among us," he said.

Fakhrul Islam said this while addressing as the special guest in the Hindu Representative Conference organized by Matua Bahujan Samaj Unity Alliance at the Bangladesh Krishibid Institution auditorium here today.

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman spoke on the occasion as chief guest virtually from London.

BNP Standing Committee member Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Gayeshwar Chandra Roy also spoke.

Fakhrul said, "We want to build Bangladesh in a way where all people of all religions and all ethnic groups will have equal rights.”

“I want to say one thing- this country is yours, this soil is yours. In 1971, when we fought the war, there was no difference among us; we, the Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Muslims, and the people from the hills, all fought together to liberate the country. Today, let us be inspired by that mantra once again and unite to transform this country into a land suitable for all people to live in."

BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said, "BNP is not a party for Muslims only. It is the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, a party for all citizens of the country regardless of minority or majority.”

Convener of the Matua Bahujan Samaj Unity Alliance Somnath Dey presided over the event. Member Secretary and Spokesperson Kapil Krishna Mondal moderated the event.

Joint Convener Somen Shah and Chairman of Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Welfare Front Babu Bijon Kanti Sarkar spoke, among others, on the occasion.
