DHAKA, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS) - The cover of the book “Bangladesher Notun Projonmer Chokhe Chin” (China through the Eyes of the New Generation of Bangladesh) was unveiled today at North South University (NSU) to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China.
The book is a joint publication of the North South University in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Yunnan University in Kunming, China, and the Confucius Institute at the NSU.
It is published by Prothoma and edited by Professor Dr Bulbul Siddiqi of NSU’s Department of Political Science and Sociology and Ma Xiaoyan, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute.
In the publication, 22 Bangladeshi writers share their experiences, insights, and reflections on China — covering topics such as the country’s economy, society, culture, people’s lifestyle, and development journey.
The unveiling ceremony, held at the NSU auditorium here, was attended by Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Managing Director and Chief Editor Mahbub Morshed, NSU Vice Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of China in Bangladesh Li Shaopeng, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Professor Dr. Md. Sahabul Haque, and Southeast University’s Associate Professor Dr. Farhana Ferdousi.

Speaking at the event, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Managing Director and Chief Editor Mahbub Morshed said, “Although Bangladesh and China share close relations, there are not as many books published in Bengali about China as there are in Bangladesh. If professional writers are invited to visit China, they can help make our mutual relations deeper and more meaningful by writing books and other works.”
NSU VC Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury said, “China’s friendship with Bangladesh is a thousand years old. The Chinese people are hardworking, friendly, and respectful. We have much to learn from the remarkable development they have achieved in just three decades.”
Editor of the book Professor Dr Bulbul Siddiqi said that the book will soon be published in Chinese language.
He continued: “The friendship between the two nations will be further strengthened through the successful application of China’s innovative technologies and experiences.”
Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh Li Shaopeng said that education, culture, and people-to-people understanding have made the friendship between the two countries deeper and more vibrant.
He added that the research, ideas, and cultural exchange activities of the young generation are creating a solid foundation for the future.
Another editor of the book and Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at NSU Ma Xiaoyan, said, “We want more Bangladeshi students to learn the Chinese language, understand Chinese culture, visit China, and cooperate in digital and green development. Only the youth can illuminate our shared future.”
Students of NSU performed a popular Chinese song at the event, which was hosted by MD Shariful Hassan, a local Chinese language teacher at NSU’s Confucius Institute.
