DHAKA, Nov 6, 2025 (BSS) - German Member of Parliament (MP) of the Green
Party has visited Bangladesh to discuss the current situation in the country,
including preparations for the upcoming national elections, and to explore
areas of bilateral cooperation.
During his visit from October 26 to 29, the German lawmaker met key
stakeholders to exchange views on Bangladesh's political developments,
economic progress, and energy initiatives, particularly the potential for
renewable energy in the region, said a press release issued by the German
Embassy here today.
He also examined the regional implications of the conflict in Myanmar, aiming
to draw international attention to the ongoing humanitarian situation.
Following his Bangladesh visit, Mr. Mijatovic traveled to Chiang Mai,
Thailand, for further consultations on the issue.
The MP held discussions with Labour Adviser M. Sakhawat Hussain on global
supply chains, labour migration, and working conditions, including challenges
in the shipbreaking industry.
Mijatovic also visited Bangladesh's textile sector through a programme
organised by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) , where he met civil
society representatives and students from BRAC University to discuss
workplace standards and social compliance.
Later, he travelled to Cox's Bazar, where he visited Rohingya camps to assess
humanitarian operations and engage with relevant partners working on refugee
welfare and host community support.
The visit reflects Germany's continued interest in fostering dialogue and
cooperation with Bangladesh on human rights, working conditions, humanitarian
aid, and sustainable development.
