RANGPUR, Nov 5, 2025 (BSS) - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) and Islamic Relief Bangladesh (IRB) to advance joint research and development activities.
The university's Registrar Dr Md Harun-or-Rashid and IRB's Country Director Talha Jamal signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations at the syndicate meeting room of the university on Wednesday.
Through this agreement, initiatives will be taken to exchange knowledge by involving joint research projects, developmental training and teachers and students of the university.
This collaboration will create opportunities for students to learn practical knowledge in addition to finding solutions for the development and challenges of the northern region.
Vice-chancellor of the university Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali attended the programme.
At that time, the Vice-chancellor said, by signing a MoU with IRB, opportunities for joint work in research and other fields will be created.
"BRUR has already signed agreements with various institutions to advance education and research activities. In addition, the university has involved students in various research activities," he said.
He also requested Islamic Relief Bangladesh to provide internship facilities and scholarships to the BRUR students.
Addressing the occasion, IRB Country Director Talha Jamal said that students and other stakeholders of BRUR will be able to benefit from the IRB model related to poverty alleviation, field research and poverty alleviation.
"The knowledge and research acquired by combining theoretical and practical knowledge will take the partnership of both institutions to a unique level," Talha Jamal hoped.
Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam, IRB Head of Programme Md Enamul Haque Sarkar and Programme Coordinator Shahinul Hasan, department heads of the Faculty of Social Sciences, teachers and students were present.
