DHAKA, Oct 29, 2025 (BSS) – Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan today said quick and effective measures must be taken to control sound pollution, one of the major social problems and health hazards in the country.

“Alongside enforcing the law, raising public awareness is equally important. Educational institutions, the media, and civic organizations must work together, while local administrations need to play a more vigorous role in preventing sound pollution,” she said.

The adviser made the remarks while addressing a meeting on the progress review of Annual Development Programme (ADP) implementation held at the ministry’s conference room at the Secretariat.

Rizwana, also the Water Resources Adviser, gave necessary instructions to officials to ensure proper implementation of the ministry’s projects.

She emphasized that environmental standards must be strictly followed during the implementation of development projects.

Sustainable development, she said, is not possible without maintaining a balance between development and the environment.

Environment Secretary Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Additional Secretary Mohammad Navid Shafiullah, Additional Secretary Md. Khairul Hasan, and Chief Conservator of Forests Md. Amir Hossain Chowdhury, among others, were present at the event.

The adviser also reviewed the progress of various projects and instructed the authorities concerned to ensure their speedy implementation.
