He noted that the government allocates Tk 24 crore annually to purchase medicines for needy patients in medical facilities nationwide.

In Chattogram alone, more than 13,000 children living in orphanages have received financial assistance, while around 97,000 disabled individuals have been supported.

AFM Khalid Hossain was speaking as the chief guest at an event held at the Chattogram Circuit House.

The program included the distribution of interest-free microloans, certificates to skill development trainees, and one-time financial grants provided by the Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council.

The adviser said, in the previous fiscal year, the government assisted about 4 crore vulnerable people and emphasized the state's responsibility to support orphans, widows, destitute individuals, and persons with disabilities.

While noting that the government extends support to transgender individuals, he clarified that assistance is not provided to homosexuals.
