Religious education is vital for building corruption free  state: IAU VC

DHAKA, October 26, 2025 (BSS) – Islamic Arabic University (IAU) Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Mohammad Shamsul Alam today said religious education is essential to build a corruption free nation as it plays a significant role in building truthful, ideal and dutiful citizen.   

“Religious education is vital for building corruption free state. Madrasha student must prepare themselves as apt for the welfare of the state and the nation. We want to see them preventing illegal and corruptive actions,” the VC  said.

He was speaking at a view exchange meeting  with the principals and vice-principals of Fazil and Kamil Madrasha of the Sylhet, held at the Sylhet Shilpakala Academy auditorium to develop the quality and modernize the Madrasha education system.

IAU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Abu Jafar Khan presided over the meeting.

IAU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Dean of the Centre for Kamil (Postgraduate) Education, Training and Research Professor Dr. Mohammad Oli Ullah, Dean of the Centre for Curriculum Development and Evaluation Professor Dr. Muhammad Shazaat Ullah Faruqi, Registrar Md. Ayub Hossain, and Controller of Examinations Mohammad Ali spoke at the event as the special guests.

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor said, “The Islamic Arabic University is working toward building a moral society by producing skilled and timely human resources. There is no alternative to Islamic education for establishing a just and ethical society.”

Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahidul Islam, addressing the teachers, said that teaching should be treated not only as a profession but also as an act of worship. 

He urged the teachers to promote and brand the importance of madrasha education among students.
