Surveyors are the main tools of land services-Saleh Ahmed

DHAKA, Oct 25, 2025 (BSS)- Senior Secretary of the Land Ministry ASM Saleh Ahmed today said that the surveyors are the key persons of the land service as they conduct survey of the lands.

“Accurate survey is essential for proper use of land, its preservation and determination of ownership. Land surveyors do this job, making them most essential workforce for the land services,” he said.

The land secretary said this while addressing a reception accorded to newly appointed surveyors of the land management wing at Bhumi Bhaban here today.

Bangladesh Management Surveyors Association organized the reception and cultural function-2025.

The government recently appointed 205 surveyors for the land department and out of them 196 joined the service today. 

A six-week long training programme for the newly joined surveyors will begin at Land Administration Centre from tomorrow.

The senior secretary said that the land disputes are mostly resolved through the jobs of the surveyors as they are entrusted with the duties for measurement and determining location and boundaries of land through drawing maps.

The role of surveyors is very important to ensure accountability and effectiveness of the land administration, he said.

ASM Saleh Ahmed said that the entire land administration has already brought under digitization and the jobs of the surveyors have been expedited for building a digital Bangladesh.

President of Bangladesh Management Surveyors Association Mohammad Shamiul Islam Shamim presided over the function while chairman of Land Reforms Board AJM Salahuddin Nagri was present as special guest.

Among others, Chairman of the Land Appeal Board Dr Mahmud Hssan, Director General of the Land Records and Survey Directorate Saidur Rahman and Additional Secretaries of the ministry Shariful Islam, Mahfuzur Rahman and Endadul Haque, were present.
