DHAKA, Oct 18, 2025 (BSS)- Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid today said that killing of Hefazat workers at Shapla Chhatttar on May 5 in 2013 laid the foundation of July revolution.
“The blood of the martyred will not erase from the history,” he said this while giving financial donation to the families of the 77 Hefazat workers who were killed during Awami League regime.
Out of them 58 Hefazat workers were killed at Shapla Chattar in 2013 and 19 others embraced martyrdom during anti Modi movement in 2021.
Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhyuian attended the function as the chief guest at Osmani Memorial Hall while Secretary of the Local Government Ministry Rezaul Maksud Zahidi was in the chair.
Among others, Amir of Hefazat-e-Islam Mohibullah Babunagori, its Secretary General Majedur Rahman, central Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Prof Miah Golam Parwar, Khelafat Islam leader Maulana Mamunul Haque and President of Gano Adhikar Parishad Nurul Haque Nur, addressed the function.
Dr Khalid said that the then Awami League government after the barbaric carnage at Shapla Chattar thought that the movement could be contained through killings and torture but that has been proved wrong.

They used over 1.5 lakh bullets but could not erase that movement from the history, he said adding that none will be spared in future if try to occur similar crimes.
Dr Khalid urged the leaders of Hefazat Islam to prepare a list of the martyred and the injured persons of the Shapla Chattar massacre.
Local Government Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said that memorial plaque would be constructed in the name of Hefazat martyred so that people of this country can remember them forever.
Taka 10 lakhs were given to each of the martyred families on the occasion.
