DHAKA, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS) - The government has formed a six-member committee to establish two separate directorates titled "Directorate of Secondary Education" and "Directorate of College Education."

"The decision follows the kind consent of the Chief Adviser to separate the functions of the existing Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE)," said an office order issued today by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education.

The committee has been formed to prepare comprehensive proposals, including separate organograms and lists of functions, for the establishment of the two new directorates.

The committee is headed by the Joint Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division. 

The committee's scope of work includes formulating the Allocation of Business for the proposed directorates in line with the Rules of Business 1996, preparing the organizational structures, determining the distribution of duties, and finalizing the Table of Official and Equipment (TO&E).

The committee has been asked to submit two separate organograms along with all relevant documents to the Government Secondary-1 Branch within 30 days.

The office order further mentioned that the directive has been issued in the public interest with the approval of the proper authority.
