DHAKA, Sept 29, 2025 (BSS) - Cabinet Secretary Dr Sheikh Md Abdur Rashid today stressed on taking coordinated approach to prevent and manage of non-communicable disease for ensuring progress in health sector.

“Taking coordinated approach is a must through a specific time-bound action plan as it is not possible for the ministry alone to face the challenges of prevention of non-communicable disease,” he said. 

He made the remarks while taking part a discussion on “Implementation of Joint Declaration on Prevention and Control of Communicable Disease” in the Cabinet Division as the chief guest.

The cabinet secretary said a 'Joint Declaration' has been signed with 35 ministries and departments in which each ministry will take the initiative to implement it. The health services division will coordinate with all ministries in this regard.

In this connection, he said the Cabinet Division will provide allout support while the World Health Organization and other development partners will ensure technical support to manage the diseases.

Representatives of five ministries and departments and organizations related to food production and management joined the meeting.

With Secretary to health Services Division Md Saidur Rahman in the chair, secretaries and senior officials of the ministries and departments concerned presented their views on the plans and strategies.

Representatives of the World Health Organization, World Food Programme, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, UNDP, UNICEF, Director General of the Health Services and heads of departments or organizations discussed all types of technical cooperation on the issue.
