DHAKA, Sept 24, 2025 (BSS) - The National University (NU) will work with the world-renowned City University of New York (CUNY) and City College of New York (CCNY) in the United States on artificial intelligence and big data analytics, climate change, remote sensing and waste management.
The two universities will also work on various online training programs, joint degree programs, various types of research and joint exposure tours for students, teachers and officials, said a press release received here today.
During his recent visit to the United States, National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah discussed joint partnerships with City College of New York President Vincent Boudreau.
The dean and senior officials of City College of New York were present at the time.
Professor Amanullah said this initiative of the two universities will create research opportunities in various fields in the departments of Geography, Environmental Sciences and Public Health and in the departments of Science, Commerce and Social Sciences.
Appreciating the interest of the City College of New York authorities in higher education in Bangladesh, he said, this joint partnership will bring positive results not only for the National University but also for other educational institutions in Bangladesh.
NU Vice-Chancellor said that higher education requires a lot of investment, which is difficult for the government to bear. Therefore, everyone in the society should come forward to invest in higher education, he added.
He said alumni of former students can play the most effective role in this regard.
Professor Amanullah said that numerous alumni of the National University are in important positions in different countries and renowned institutions of the world. An initiative has been taken to form the National University Alumni to bring them all together, he added.
