DHAKA, Sept 23, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 507,228 people have received free legal advice through the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO), according to a report.
The report, released on the NLASO website, outlined the scope of legal aid provided between 2009 and August 2025. It revealed that 438,474 cases involving underprivileged litigants were supported under the government's legal aid framework during this period.
Of these, 26,388 individuals received free legal advice through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, while 268,521 people accessed services via legal aid offices operating in all 64 districts.
The report also highlighted targeted support for the labor sector, noting that 21,747 workers were assisted through specialized legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram.
These services are provided under the Legal Aid Services Act to ensure access to justice for financially insolvent and disadvantaged litigants.
The activities are run under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
