DHAKA, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) – Former Bangladesh envoy to Malaysia and Italy Md. Shameem Ahsan today called upon the Bangladeshi nationals not to risk their lives by taking irregular or dangerous migration routes to Italy or any other country, stressing the importance of safe and regular migration.

“No Bangladeshi in the future should try to migrate through such risky routes, whether it is in Italy or any other country,” Ahsan said in a video message shared at the official page of the Bangladesh mission in Kuala Lumpur, highlighting his experience as Bangladesh’s former Ambassador to Italy and Malaysia. 

He underscored that safe migration ensures dignity, security, and opportunity for all, while protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation and trafficking.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), he noted, has been working with the Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia to advance safe and regular migration through strategic partnerships and public outreach.

IOM’s awareness initiatives in Malaysia are designed to provide Bangladeshi migrants with reliable information, enabling them to make informed and safe choices in their migration journey.

Through these joint efforts, IOM and the Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia aim to protect migrants from falling victim to traffickers and ensure that Bangladeshi workers abroad can pursue opportunities with dignity and security.
