DHAKA, Sept 19, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh has been re-elected to the Council of Administration (CA) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) for a second consecutive four-year term at the organisation's 28th Congress held in Dubai on Thursday.
According to a press release from the Chief Adviser's Press Wing, Bangladesh secured 97 out of 157 votes in the election, ranking 9th among the 10 elected members.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the Chief Adviser and the Bangladesh Embassy in Dubai played key roles in securing the re-election.
The achievement will boost Bangladesh's role in global postal modernization, e-commerce and digital service expansion while strengthening the country's international image.
Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today congratulated the Bangladesh delegation on the achievement.
Ambassador Tareq Ahmed, Bangladesh's envoy to the UAE, hailed the outcome as a ‘diplomatic success.’
Meanwhile, under the leadership of Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, 50 easy bikes were allocated to postal field workers with UPU support, further enhancing postal service delivery, the release added.
