JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan today said that no power, evil force, cunning or political trickery can stop the university's progress, emphasizing the importance of democracy, unity and dialogue on campus.

He made the remarks at the university's Senate Hall while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected committee of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JUCSU) around 5:00 pm.

Recalling the July Uprising last year, the VC said it was driven by a commitment to restore democracy and highlighted the critical role of universities in creating a conducive environment for national elections. "At JU, we tried to contribute from the micro level," he added.

Prof Kamrul Ahsan underscored his impartial role as the university's chief executive, saying, "Our administration is committed to acting firmly and appropriately, irrespective of personal views or political affiliations."

He also assured that the JUCSU Constitution, particularly Section 8 (J) regarding election complaints, will be fully upheld and an appeal committee has been formed to hear any grievances.

Urging students and other stakeholders to maintain harmony, the VC said, "We are a family within the university. We must avoid labeling or tagging culture and resolve disputes through discussion, not vengeance. Compete with one another in spirit and merit, but never follow the path of revenge."
