DHAKA, Sept 12, 2025 (BSS) - The stage play “Gagone Gorje” was staged today, shedding light on pressing social realities and their devastating impact on family life. 

The play is written and directed by Motiur Rahman Rana, the production explores how social vices and moral decay can push even a happy and cultured family toward the brink of destruction.

The stage drama was held at the main auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy this evening.

At the heart of the play is Rafat, a modest man, who lives with his devoted wife Kohinoor Begum, two sons, and a daughter. His eldest son, Sagar, is highly educated yet unemployed; the second son, Sajal, is a university student engaged in left-wing politics; and his daughter, Sima, is a talented student. 

Despite the family’s refined and contented life, their world gradually unravels under the weight of social degeneration, including the deadly scourge of drug addiction.

The play also introduces several characters reflective of society’s broader realities, such as Keramat Khan, a hypocritical figure whose life entangles others including his daughter Neela, Nayan, Chayan, Sohagi, and Pinki.

Through powerful performances and relatable storytelling, “Gagone Gorje” delivers a stark reminder of the destructive spread of addiction and moral decline across both cities and villages. 

The playwright expressed hope that the audience would find relevance in the narrative and leave with a renewed sense of awareness.

It too depicts the independent and control variables of social crimes and crime rackets.

In the play, actor Bazlur Rashid Babul appeared as Rafat, Papiya Putul as Kohinoor Begum, Md. Masudur Rahman as Sagar, Tutul Ahmed Rudra as Sajal, Ajmeri Azmi Jyoti as Shima, Kamrul Ahsan Chandan as Nayan, Aryan Abir as Keramat Khan, Mujibur Rahman as Shohagi Hijra, Dewan Humayun Kabir Ripon as Choyon, Tanisha Islam Sana as Neela, Manik Shah as Horichoron and Jannat as Pinki.
