CHATTOGRAM, Sept 5, 2025 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Adviser Nurjahan Begum today urged doctors to refrain from political involvement and prioritize their responsibilities as healthcare providers.

She also called on doctors to remain humane, transparent, accountable, and honest while performing their duties.
The adviser made the remarks during a meeting with the hospital’s executive committee, teachers, doctors, nurses, and officials in the conference room after visiting Chattogram Ma-O-Shishu Hospital.

She emphasized that healthcare must remain a top priority, noting that measures have been taken to reduce the prices of essential medical supplies such as heart rings and cancer medicines. She also underscored the need for equitable distribution of specialized hospitals outside Dhaka.

“Private entrepreneurs in Chattogram should come forward to provide specialized medical services or establish specialized hospitals. Chattogram Ma-O-Shishu Hospital is a trusted healthcare provider and played a key role in treating COVID-19 patients.”

“Efforts should also be made to improve nurse training for overseas employment,” she added.

The event was attended by Dr. Md. Manjurul Islam, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Private Secretary to the Adviser, Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, Chattogram Divisional Director of Health, Dr. Jahangir Alam, Civil Surgeon, along with doctors from various government and private hospitals.
