DHAKA, Sept 2, 2025 (BSS) – President of the Union of Comoros Azali Assoumani today expressed optimism that his country could achieve its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by drawing on Bangladesh’s experiences, particularly in addressing climate change.
The president made the remark when non-residence Bangladesh ambassador to the Union of Comoros Dr. Zokey Ahad presented his credentials to him in a humble ceremony at the State House in Moroni, according to a message received here.
Following the presentation of credentials, the President conveyed his good wishes to the Bangladesh’s President and the Chief Adviser and said that Comoros always values the existing relations with Bangladesh.
In reply, the Ambassador assured his best effort in strengthening the existing friendly relations between the two brotherly countries and promoting bilateral relations and cooperation to a new level.
He requested the Comoros government to recruit skilled manpower from Bangladesh in their light engineering industries, health care and agricultural sectors.
He also proposed a few MoUs on education exchange programmes, recruiting skilled manpower and sharing experience of agricultural sectors.
Both the sides also expressed their hopes that the two governments would explore new avenues of cooperation for the mutual benefits of their countries in the days to come.
On the same day, the Bangladesh envoy paid a courtesy call on Union of Comoros acting foreign affairs and international cooperation minister Oumouri Mmadi Hassani and discussed different issues related to bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Comoros.
