KHULNA, Aug 30, 2025 (BSS) - A battery-run van driver was killed in a road accident this morning in Terokhada Upazila of the district.

The deceased was identified as Mofiz Molla, 32, a resident of Haridashpur village under Gopalganj Sadar Upazila of Gopalganj district. 

The accident took place around 9:30 am near Rammashi Rajur Tea Stall on the Terokhada-Kalia Road when a sand-laden trolley and a battery-run van carrying bakery products collided head-on. The van was badly damaged, and its driver Mofiz sustained critical injuries. The trolley driver also suffered minor injuries, police and local people said.

Locals rushed Mofiz to Terokhada Upazila Health Complex. He was later referred to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), where he succumbed to his injuries around 11:45 am while undergoing treatment.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Terokhada Police Station, Mehedi Hasan, said the vehicles involved in the accident have been seized.

"An investigation is underway, and necessary legal steps will be taken," he added.
