Rizwana for creating safe, inclusive environment for women, sustainable development

DHAKA, August 21, 2025 (BSS) – Environment, Forest and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan today laid emphasize   on establishing a safe and inclusive environment for women to ensure  sustainable development and social justice. 

She also said that the government is actively working to end violence against women and formulate gender-sensitive policies.

Rizwana, also the adviser of the Ministry of Water Resources, made these remarks when Country Representative of UN Women Geetanjali Singh paid a courtesy call on at her office in the Ministry of Environment at the Bangladesh Secretariat, said a press release.

During the meeting, they discussed a range of priority issues including challenges in the care economy, evolvement of women’s leadership, and prevention of sexual harassment in both public and private sectors. 

Both agreed to strengthen cooperation on these matters and pledged to work together toward achieving sustainable development and climate resilience.

The discussion highlighted that a just and inclusive society can be built through coordinated efforts by the government, international organizations, and civil society.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both the Government of Bangladesh and UN Women reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the partnership between them in promoting gender justice, amplifying women’s voices in decision-making processes, and ensuring women’s development free from violence and discrimination.

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Secretary Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Deputy Secretary Jesmin Nahar and senior officials from UN Women were present.
