DINAJPUR, Aug 17, 2025 (BSS) - 18 students of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) have been selected for the 'Millennium Fellowship 2025'.
For the first time, the student of the university obtained the fellowship as part of an educational programme organized jointly by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and the Millennium Campus Network (MCN).
HSTU Public Relations Department Director Md. Khademul Islam said that the Millennium Fellowship is a long-term leadership programme that brings together students with leadership qualities from all over the world.
The aim of this academic programme is to help students develop their values, professional qualifications and career paths.
He said that this year, about 60,000 students from 7,000 universities from 160 countries applied for this fellowship. Out of which only 4 percent campuses and 4000 fellows have been selected.
HSTU is one of the few campuses selected from Bangladesh.
The university office sources said that the students who have achieved the UN Millennium Fellowship are; Md. Raijul Islam, Md. Asif Mahmud, Khairan Mirza, Mocha. Jasmine Akhter, Deen Islam, Farhana Tarin, Israt Jahan, Md. Abdullah, Moinuddin Rabbi, Md. Redwan Ahmed, Md. Rifat, Mithila Roy, Mocha. Auliya Happy, Mocha. Zakia Sultana, Rakibul Hasan, Sadia Tarin, Sanjida Sneha and Tasbiul Islam.
The selected fellows of the university will work to bring positive changes in the university and the surrounding community through various social, environmental and policy-related projects.
During the fellowship, they will exchange ideas and participate in joint activities with fellows from other countries and universities.
Registrar Prof Dr. Md. Abu Hasan said, "18 students from this university have been selected for the United Nations Millennium Fellowship. This is a matter of pride for our university. We hope that the selected students will gain timely and advanced knowledge by participating in the fellowship."
