Tarique Rahman calls for casting votes for sheaf of paddy in next election

DHAKA, Aug 12, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman today called upon all to cast their votes for the sheaf of paddy in the next general election to build the nation.

"I call upon all men and women, students, the young generation, and people from all walks of life of the country to vote for the sheaf of paddy in the upcoming general election to give BNP a chance to build the nation," he said.

 He made the call while addressing a discussion titled “The Future Bangladesh in the Expectations of the Youth and BNP's Plan” at Bangladesh China Friendship International Conference Center (BCFICC) here as the chief guest.

Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), Juba Dal and Swechasebak Dal jointly organised the discussion marking the International Youth Day-2025. 

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was present at the event as the special guest with Swechchhasebak Dal Central President SM Jilani in the chair. 

Tarique Rahman said that the era of traditional slogan-based politics is over, asserting that the public is now looking for change. “BNP believes in implementing its promises rather than just making them,” he said urging all to cooperate BNP to turn its plans into reality. 

In this connection, he said a spontaneous show of public support is crucial to improve the quality of life of all citizens and to establish the right of the people in Bangladesh.

In his speech, Tarique Rahman highlighted various initiatives undertaken by BNP aimed at creating employment and empowering the youth of the country.

He said, "One thing has become clear in the today's discussion that there was no alternative of acquiring technological knowledge for the survival in the present technology-based modern world”. 

Describing youth as the lifeline of development, he said their creativity, innovative spirit, and ambition can propel a country toward prosperity. “If the youth are led astray, the nation's development and progress can also be hampered”. 

Noting that new technologies are constantly changing the course of human life, he said, "Modern technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, post-quantum cryptography for data storage, or hybrid computing can transform people's lives...To enter the new market of these technologies, it's crucial to acquire the necessary skills and qualifications."

Emphasizing the importance of technical education, he said, "The primary goal for young people should be to develop themselves as humane individuals who are skilled and proficient in science, technology, and technical fields”. 

He said the youth must take the responsibility and leadership to build themselves into the most capable individuals to face today's and tomorrow's technological challenges.

The state must also take a proactive role in ensuring all necessary facilities are available to make the youth technologically proficient, he added.

"Our teams are working to include technology-related education as a compulsory subject in the school curriculum. They are preparing the necessary plans. We also have separate plans to enhance the technology-based work skills of young people who are outside the formal education. Through this, the youth will be trained, and unskilled laborers will become skilled laborers," he said. 

Tarique Rahman also announced a plan to take sports as a profession. "To establish sports as a profession, we are considering including sports education in the regular curriculum."

He also mentioned plans to introduce foreign language courses in the education curriculum.

"To turn our youth into valuable assets through government initiatives, we want to launch foreign language courses...If a skilled worker knows more than one foreign language, they don't have to wait for a job."

BNP Students Affairs Secretary Sardar Shakhawat Hossain Bokul, Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Adviser to BNP's Acting Chairman Dr. Mahadi Amin, Juba Dal President Monayem Munna and General Secretary  Nurul Islam Nayan, Swechchhasebak Dal General Secretary Rajib Ahsan, Journalist Muktadir Rashid, Chairman of the Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM) Bobby Hajjaj, Chief Coordinator of the Ganosanhati Andolan Zonayed Saki, JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir, among others, took part in the discussion.
