JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Aug 7, 2025 (BSS) – Freshers under the 2024–25 academic session (54th batch) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan today, calling for the immediate start of their academic activities.
Deputy Registrar (Academic) Syed Mohammed Ali Reza received the memorandum on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor this noon at the new administrative building.
The students expressed disappointment over the prolonged delay in class commencement, despite JU being one of the earliest public universities to complete its admission tests in February 2025.
"Other universities have already started their classes, while we are left in uncertainty," the memorandum stated, pointing to institutions like Dhaka University, Rajshahi University, and Chittagong University.
The students also mentioned that the delay is causing social and psychological distress, with some facing questions from family and peers about the legitimacy of their admission.
In response, JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan said, “We are aware of the concerns raised by our freshers. Necessary administrative processes are in progress, and we are committed to starting the new session’s academic activities at the earliest after sitting down at a meeting on August 13.”
However, the undergraduate admission tests for Jahangirnagar University (JU) for the 2024-25 academic session began on February 9 and run through February 17 this year.
