DHAKA, July 22, 2025 (BSS) - Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan today left Dhaka for Japan at the invitation of Ehime University.
During his six-day official visit, he will take part in various high-level meetings and hold bilateral talks with the authorities of Ehime University to further strengthen ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programmes.
According to a press release issued today, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities will also be signed during the visit.
Prof Dr Niaz will exchange views, share knowledge, and hold discussions for the smooth implementation of a joint collaborative research project titled 'Implementing Water Quality Monitoring and Purification Technologies to Control Health Risks for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) in Dhaka Metropolitan Area.'
The project will be implemented with funding from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), it said.
During his six-day visit, the DU VC will also visit several laboratories and important institutions in Japan, the release said.
Besides, he will deliver a lecture on 'Rohingya Refugee Crisis: Regional Security Risks, Repatriation Pathways and Livelihood Challenges' at a workshop organised by the Peace Building Department of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF), Japan, it added.
Prof Dr Niaz is expected to return home on July 28.
