JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, July 18, 2025 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit of Bangladesh Chhatra Union (a faction) has formed a new 25-member executive committee for a one-year term.
The new committee was formed following the Chhatra Union's 33rd council, held Wednesday afternoon at the university's Shaheed Minar premises, said a press release signed by its office secretary, Md. Redowan Sikder, on Thursday night.
Adri Ankur of the Anthropology Department has been elected president, while Faizan Ahmed Arko from the Marketing Department has been made general secretary.
Key positions in the committee include Maisha Moni as organizing secretary, Sabereen Nawshaad and Sadia Islam Moon as vice presidents, Simanta Bardhan and Zarin Tasnim Promi as assistant general secretaries, and Isfar Saadi as treasurer.
Other office bearers are Md Redowan Sikder as office secretary, Imran Hasan Shuvo as education and research secretary, Rifat Rafi as science and technology affairs secretary, Anika Tabassum Farabee as publicity and publication secretary, Nushrika Audri as cultural secretary, Zanib Hasan Matiya as social welfare and environment affairs secretary, and Istiak bin Iqbal as sports secretary.
The executive members are Riddha Anindya Ganguli, Amartya Ray, Anika Ibnat Anchal, Ayesha Naz Tanha, Nahidul Islam Nayeem, Sajid Rahman, Adrita Roy, and Siam Mahmud, including two co-opted positions.
The newly formed committee made its first public appearance Thursday night through a cultural event at Selim Al Din Muktomancha, commemorating the first anniversary of the July Mass Uprising on the campus.
