DHAKA, July 2, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today alleged the media presented the comments of its commissioner SM Sazzat Ali on July 1, 2016 Holy Artisan attack in a “fragmented” manner while it acknowledged the incident as a “terrorist” onslaught and casualties there were very tragic and painful.
“Different national dailies and online news portals carried fragmented comments of DMP commissioner over the incident coinciding with the ninth anniversary of the incident,” a DMP statement said.
It added: “Mentionable, Holy Artisan incident was a terrorist attack and after appropriate investigations the people involved were by now exposed to justice.”
In fact, the statement said, the DMP commissioner in his remarks highlighted police’s challenges in the country’s current situation and some irregularities during the subsequent governments.
“DMP believes that there is no room for unnecessary misunderstandings on the matter,” the statement said.
It said the terrorist attack and the resulting loss of lives and property are undoubtedly very painful and tragic while the DMP wishes peace of the departed souls conveys deepest condolences to the bereaved families of the slain foreigner and Bangladeshis.
The DMP said the police force in the capital city remained active to prevent any such incident in future as well.
