NARAYANGANJ, July 2, 2025(BSS) - Narayanganj Sadar Thana Police on Tuesday night filed a murder case for the killing of infant Ria Gope,7, at Nayamati area in the town during the mass uprising on July 19 last year.
Following the instructions from the higher authority, Sub-Inspector (SI) Abu Raihan of Sadar Model Thana filed the case accusing 150 to 200 people for the killing of Ria, the youngest martyred of the July uprising.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Model Thana Nasir Uddin said that they filed the case as the father of the victim refused to file any case for the killing of his minor daughter despite repeated requests.
According to the case, Ria Gope, daughter of Dipok Kumar Gope, owner of a Hosiery industry at Nayamati area, was hit by a stray bullet on their rooftop during a firing incident in the area in the afternoon on July 19.
Ria received the bullet at her father’s lap while the ill-fated father went to the rooftop to bring back Ria to her mother at their house fearing indiscriminate firing. She was immediately taken to nearby hospital but the attending doctors declared hear dead, police added.
