Police enforced ban on rally near Jamuna dispersing gathering: DMP

DHAKA, July 1, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has said it overnight reinforced a ban on rallies around Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus’s official residence Jamuna, peacefully dispersing a group of people gathered overnight.

According to a DMP statement, some people tried to create a law and order situation through an illegal gathering near the Jamuna while policemen tactfully dispersed them without using brutal force and took the situation under control.

The statement said that the DMP earlier issued a public notice slapping a ban on all types of meetings, gatherings, processions, and demonstrations in front of the Jamuna and adjacent areas which is still in force.

It, however, criticized efforts to undermine the ban calling such activities undesirable.

“All concerned are requested once again to abide by the public notice issued by the DMP to refrain from spreading unnecessary confusion on the above mentioned matter,” the statement read.
