DHAKA, June 26, 2025 (BSS) – A total of 51,615 Bangladeshi pilgrims returned home after performing the holy Hajj since June 10 as three airlines including Bangladesh Biman were engaged to fly them back home.
“A total of 2403 pilgrims will land in Dhaka today in seven flights,” religious affairs ministry’s Hajj office director M Lokman Hossain said quoting Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport officials.
Quoting the flight management information service, he said national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines would bring 1448 pilgrims in four flights, while Saudi Airlines would carry 955 in two flights.
According to officials concerned, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operates 134 flights, Saudia Airlines 54 and Saudi-based Flynas Airlines 22 to carry Bangladesh Hajis back home.
They said Biman so far transported 22,149, Saudi Airlines 21,025 and Flynas Airlines 8,441 pilgrims back to Bangladesh.
In total, 134 return flights have been operated-58 by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 54 by Saudia Airlines, and 22 by Flynas Airlines.
“Unfortunately 38 Bangladeshi pilgrims have passed away in Saudi Arabia so far - 27 of them are males and 11 are females while 25 died in Makkah, 11 in Madinah, one in Arafat and one in Jeddah,” the Hajj office director said.
The Hajj office said Saudi medical centres so far issued 66,648 automated prescriptions for Bangladeshi pilgrims and IT help desks have delivered 24,395 service interventions to assist pilgrims during their stay.
Saudi public hospitals have treated 308 Bangladeshi pilgrims while 24 are still being treated in the Saudi health facilities.
Hossain said Bangladesh asked all concerned in Saudi Arabia to ensure medical services to Bangladeshi pilgrims during the Hajj and post Hajj period.
This year's Hajj operations began with the first outbound flight on April 29 and concluded on May 31 while the return phase commenced on June 10 and will continue until July 10.
