DHAKA, May 28, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued 18 points of security advisory alongside completing all required preparation to ensure peaceful celebrations of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

“It is possible to celebrate the Eid-ul-Azha in a safe and festive manner, if security awareness is created at the individual or institutional level in addition to the steps taken by the police,” Deputy Commissioner of DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman told BSS.

The DMP has requested all to contact with the following numbers for police assistance in case of emergency: DMP Control Room Number: 01320-037845; 01320-037846; 223381188; 0247119988; 029619999 and the National Emergency Number 999.

In addition to the security measures taken by the DMP, the city residents are requested to follow the following 18 instructions to ensure the safety advisory, he said.

4. Be careful when buying sacrificial animals online.

5. The security guards assigned to the security of homes, apartments, banks, insurance companies, and various institutions and shops should be strengthened in their duties and 24-hour surveillance should be maintained to prevent any illegal intrusion. Necessary measures should be taken to monitor the overall security system. Instead of giving leave to all the officers and employees of the institution at the same time, a part of them can be kept engaged in the performance of their duties so that they can monitor the overall security system of the institution.

6. Before leaving the house and institution, the doors and windows should be properly locked. If necessary, multiple locks can be used. If the doors and windows are in a weak condition, they should be repaired and secured as much as possible.

7. Adequate number of CCTV cameras should be installed in houses, various institutions and shops and it should be ensured that the installed CCTV cameras remain operational. Locks with auto-locks and security alarms can be used on the main doors of the houses. Arrangements should be made to keep the surroundings of the house and establishment adequately lit at night.

8. Money, valuables and documents should be left in a safe place or in the custody of a close relative. If necessary, the help of a bank locker can be taken.

9. Before leaving the house, all the neighbors/residents of the neighboring flats who will be staying in Dhaka should be requested to keep an eye on the house and should be in regular contact with them on the phone.

10. Tenants should inform the owner of the house in advance about leaving the house on the occasion of the Eid.

11. The security guard of the house or establishment should be warned and necessary instructions should be given so that no one can enter the house or establishment without permission. The garage of the house or establishment should be secured. If there is a tree next to the window/door of the house, unwanted branches should be cut off so that criminals cannot enter the house using the branches of the tree.

12. Before leaving your home or establishment, make sure that the lights, fans, and other electrical switches, water taps, gas stoves, are turned off.

13. If you see a suspicious person/miscreant roaming in front of your neighborhood/house, you should inform the local police outpost and police station. If any unpleasant incident has occurred or is likely to occur in your neighborhood/house during Eid, you should inform the local police outpost and police station.

14. Request to passengers - Plan your Eid travel with sufficient time. Keep your own and your family members' safety in mind while traveling. Do not urge the driver to drive at high speed. Do not risk your life by becoming an additional passenger on the roof of a bus or traveling in trucks, pickups, and other goods-carrying vehicles.

15. Use zebra crossings or foot-over-bridges when crossing the road. Where there are no zebra crossings or foot over-bridges, cross the road safely by watching the movement of vehicles. Seek police assistance if necessary.
