DHAKA, May 7, 2025 (BSS) – The National Primary Education Week-2025 is set to begin on May 10, with the theme "Ensure quality education, Build a Discrimination-Free Bangladesh".

The inauguration ceremony will take place at the Directorate of Primary Education here, where Primary Education Medal-2024 will be awarded in recognition to outstanding contributions in the field of primary education. 

Education Adviser Professor Dr Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar is expected to inaugurate the primary education week   and distribute Primary Education Medal 2024 as the chief guest. 

The event would be chaired by Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder.

Primary and Mass Education Secretary Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana will attend the event as special guest, while Director General of Directorate of Primary Education Abu Noor Md. Shamsuzzaman will deliver welcome address .

The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has introduced the Primary Education Medal to nurture children's talents, motivate and inspire teachers, officials, employees, and individuals involved in primary education to enhance their creative contributions, and acknowledge their efforts through awards and competitions.

The Primary Education Medal distribution program has been continuing since 1985. The best individuals and institutions have been selected in 14 categories for this year.

A total of 150 awards will be distributed across various categories, recognizing winners in first, second, and third positions. Of the total, 108 awards were presented to winners across 18 categories (for both boys and girls) through sports, cultural events, and subject-based quiz competitions for the students. 

Additionally, 42 awards were distributed to first, second, and third-place winners in 14 categories at both individual and institutional levels.

The first, second and third place winners in the student competition are  awarded medals and certificates worth TK 30,000, TK  25,000 and TK 20,000 respectively.

The best place winners at the individual level are awarded medals and certificates worth TK 50,000 and the best place winners at the institution level are awarded crests and certificates worth TK 50,000.

On the occasion of the celebration of National Primary Education Week 2025, the national level inauguration and distribution of Primary Education Medals 2024 will be held at the Directorate of Primary Education in Dhaka on May 10.

The upazila-level inauguration ceremony will be held, followed by a discussion meeting with local administration and patrons of learning. Additionally, handwriting and drawing competitions for students, along with various educational and cultural programs will also take place.

At the individual level, the Best District Primary Education Officer, the Best Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTI) Superintendent, the Best Upazila Education Officer, the Best PTI Instructor, the Best Upazila Resource Centre (URC) Instructor, the Best Assistant Upazila Primary Education Officer, the Best Headmaster, the Best Headmistress, the Best Assistant Teacher, the Best Cub Teacher, the Best Employee at the institutional level, the Best PTI and the Best Primary School and the winners of the inter-sports and cultural competitions of students will be awarded.
