DHAKA, Dec 11, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has welcomed the announcement of the schedule for the much-anticipated 13th National Parliamentary Election.

"With this announcement, the uncertainty and doubts surrounding the election have ended," said Jamaat Assistant Secretary General and Chief of the Central Publicity and Media Wing Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer at a press conference this evening.

He said, "The country will enter a new political chapter as the 300-seat parliamentary elections are set for February 12, 2026. We congratulate the nation and warmly welcome this announcement."

Jubayer emphasized that the Election Commission holds a crucial responsibility in ensuring that the elections are free, fair, and credible.

"We have already communicated our expectations to the Election Commission and hope they will perform their duties responsibly," he said.

"It is essential that all political parties are given equal opportunities, illegal arms are confiscated, law and order is maintained, terrorists are apprehended, and all administrative measures required for a meaningful election are properly implemented," he added.

Jubayer also referred to the shortcomings of previous elections, saying, "Past elections in 2014, 2018, and 2024 failed to meet the nation's expectations, raising questions about the country's political environment, administration, and democratic framework, and leaving citizens frustrated. We hope this election will break that cycle and provide the nation with a truly free, fair, and acceptable election."

He recalled the Mass Uprising on August 05, 2024 and stressed that the upcoming election should fulfill the aspirations of the people for change.

"We congratulate the nation on entering the official election phase. The eight-party alliance, including Jamaat, has already made preliminary candidate announcements for all 300 constituencies. Top leaders of the alliance will soon finalize seat allocations with the aim of securing the maximum possible victories," he added.

Regarding Jamaat's ongoing five-point demand, he stated that the legal basis for the July National Charter has already been established, and the movement for the remaining demands, especially the referendum, will continue.

"We urge the people to support reforms in the referendum and vote 'Yes.' Our campaign, activism, and public statements on these issues will continue," he said.
