CUMILLA, Dec 5, 2025 (BSS) – Religious Affairs Adviser Dr AFM Khalid Hossain has said that patriots never launder the country’s money abroad.

“Patriots can never siphon off the country’s money abroad. We want to build a society free from corruption,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at the International Qirat Conference, organised by Cumilla Al Quran Academy, at Cumilla Central Eidgah Maidan on Thursday night.

Khalid Hossain said that after 54 years of the country’s independence, the Alem-Ulama (Islamic scholars) now have the opportunity to come to power, and if they make any mistake this time, they may have to wait another 54 years.

The Holy Quran must be followed in every sphere of life, he said, adding that anyone who deviates from the teachings of the Quran cannot be truly patriotic. He further said that initiatives have been taken to introduce Quranic teaching in the country’s prisons.

At the Qirat conference, Qari Sheikh Ahmad bin Yusuf Azhari of Bangladesh, Sheikh Ahmad Al Jawhari of Egypt, Qari Anwarul Hasan Shah Bukhari of Pakistan, Qari Mahdi Ghulam Nezad of Iran, and Qari Muhammad Nazir Asgar of the Philippines recited from the Quran.

Tamirul Ummah Trust President Qazi Din Mohammad, Cumilla Al Quran Academy President Md Nuruddin Ahmed, Secretary Dr Mujahidul Islam, Insaf Group Chairman Professor AKM Emdadul Haque Mamun, Cumilla City Jamaat Secretary Mahbubur Rahman, Cumilla South District BNP General Secretary VP Ashiqur Rahman Mahmud Wasim, AB Party Cumilla District President Miah Mohammad Tawfiq, and Al Quran Academy Finance Secretary Faiz Ahmed were present, among others.
