DHAKA, Nov 21, 2025 (BSS) – Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the reports of deaths and injuries in house collapses and other incidents triggered by a powerful earthquake in several districts across the country.
In a condolence message released by his Press Wing this afternoon, the head of the interim government prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families.
Prof Yunus wished the injured a speedy recovery and directed all relevant offices to intensify rescue operations in the affected areas.
“The government is closely monitoring the situation and has initiated efforts to collect a complete assessment of the damage,” he said.
The Chief Adviser expressed hope that the people would face this situation with patience and courage.
According to reports, the Press Wing said, at least five people, including a child, have so far died, while close to a hundred individuals, including students of Dhaka University, factory workers in Gazipur, and residents of Narsingdi, the epicentre of the quake, have been injured.
