DHAKA, Sept 9, 2025 (BSS) - Under the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO), the National Helpline Call Centre (toll-free 16430) has provided legal advice to 189,896 people, offering support to financially underprivileged and incapable litigants across the country.
The report, published on the NLASO website, details legal assistance from 2009 to July 2025.
Talking to BSS, Dr Md Rezaul Karim, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, said that the Labour Legal Aid Cells began in 2013 and the National Helpline was launched in 2016, since when 1 lakh 89 thousand 896 people have received legal advice.
Initially, Legal Aid services were launched at the district level for underprivileged communities. The services were later extended to the Supreme Court, the toll-free '16430' call centre, the Dhaka and Chattogram Labour Legal Aid Cells, and prisons nationwide.
The report mentioned that before the establishment of the National Helpline Call Centre, 17,328 individuals received legal advice through other hotlines.
The service, provided under the Legal Aid Services Act, aims to support financially underprivileged and incapable litigants.
The National Legal Aid Services Organization operates under the Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
