KHULNA, Feb 6, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 25,786 voters will cast their ballots through postal voting in six parliamentary constituencies of Khulna in the upcoming national election.

District election office sources said 25,846 voters had initially applied for postal voting, but 60 applications were rejected after scrutiny, leaving 25,786 eligible voters.

The postal voter list includes expatriate Bangladeshis, members of law enforcement agencies engaged in election duties, under-trial prisoners and a large number of officials assigned to election-related responsibilities. Male voters outnumber female voters by nearly three to one.

In Khulna-1 constituency, 2,868 voters applied for postal voting, including 1,964 men and 904 women.

In Khulna-2, a total of 4,955 voters submitted applications - 2,954 men and 1,991 women. After verification, eight applications were cancelled.

Khulna-3 received 5,228 applications, of which 4,311 were from men and 897 from women. Following scrutiny, 5,207 applications were approved while 21 were rejected.

In Khulna-4, 4,590 voters applied for postal voting. Among them, 3,673 were men and 917 women. After verification, 4,574 applications were approved and 16 were cancelled.

In Khulna-5 constituency, 4,321 voters applied, including 3,276 men and 1,045 women. Nine applications were rejected after scrutiny.

In Khulna-6, 3,884 voters applied for postal voting, comprising 3,031 men and 853 women. Six applications were cancelled.

Senior District Election Officer Md Sohel Samad said a large number of government officials, law enforcement personnel and election duty officials had applied for postal voting this year.

He said a significant number of expatriate Bangladeshis had also applied, adding that some applications were rejected as voters failed to properly follow the required procedures.

"Overall, 25,786 voters will cast their votes through postal ballots in Khulna," he added.
