SC stays HC order over shown arrest

DHAKA, July 29, 2026 (BSS) - The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today stayed a High Court order that had directed the authorities not to show anyone arrested, arrest, or harass in the absence of a specific case against them.

A four-member Appellate Division bench headed by Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury passed the order, directing to dispose of the rule issued by the High Court in this connection, within four weeks.

The High Court earlier in its order, directed not to show anyone arrested, arrest or harass in any way without any specific case against him. It also issued a rule in this regard.

Today Attorney General Md Ruhul Quddus Kazol argued for the state, while Barrister Sara Hossain and Advocate Motahar Hossain Sazu stood for the opposing party.
