DHAKA, Nov 03, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the seizure of income tax files of former Member of Parliament (MP) from Narayanganj-4 constituency Shamim Osman.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz issued the order in response to a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to the application, a case has been filed against Shamim Osman on allegations that during his tenure as a Member of Parliament, he abused his power and amassed assets worth Taka 6.67 crore, disproportionate to his known sources of income. He is also accused of holding these assets under his possession.
Furthermore, he is alleged to have conducted abnormal and suspicious financial transactions amounting to Taka 439.82 crore through nine bank accounts in his name and linked to his interests. These funds are suspected to be proceeds of corruption, and the transactions involve deliberate transfers, relocations, and conversions of illicit wealth.
For the sake of a fair probe, it is deemed essential to seize and review his income tax records from fiscal years 2009-10 to 2023-24.
