DHAKA, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - Three accused, including Bargis Shabnam Barsha, a tuition student of JnU student and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader Zobayed Hossain, have given confessional statements in court admitting their involvement in Zobayed murder.

The other two accused who gave confessional statements are Barsha's boyfriend Md. Mahir Rahman and Mahir's friend Fardeen Ahmed Aylan, police said.

The trio was produced before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka today. 

Following their voluntary agreement to give confessional statements, SI Ashraf Hossain, the investigating officer of Bangshal Police Station, submitted a petition requesting that their statements be recorded.

Mahir gave his statement before Magistrate Mehedi Hasan, Barsha before Magistrate Masum Mia, and Aynal before Magistrate Md Jewel Rana.

Meanwhile, Pritam Das, a witness in the case, also gave a confessional statement before Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibuzzaman's court.

The courts recorded the statements under Section 164 and ordered that the accused be sent to jail. 

According to the case details, Zobayed, a Jagannath University student, used to provide private tuition alongside his regular studies. 

On October 19, around 4:30 pm, he went to House No. 15, Roushan Villa, on Nur Box Lane under Ward 31 of Bangshal area to tutor the female student.

Around 5:48 pm, that same student messaged Zobayed's university junior, Saikat, saying that "Zobayed Sir has been killed." The message claimed that someone had murdered him.

Later, at about 7:00 pm, Jagannath University student Kamrul Hasan informed Enayet Hossain, Zobayed's elder brother, about the incident over the phone. Enayet, accompanied by his brother-in-law Sharif Mohammad, rushed to the spot on a motorcycle around 8:30 pm.

Upon reaching the building, Enayet found bloodstains on the staircase and walls. On the third-floor eastern stairway, he discovered Zobayed's bloodied body lying face down.

Following the post-mortem examination, Zobayed was buried in his ancestral village of Krishnapur in Cumilla on October 20.
Later, Enayet Hossain, the victim's brother, filed a murder case with Bangshal Police Station in connection with the killing.
