DHAKA, Dec 31, 2025 (BSS) - Sri Lankan foreign minister Vijitha Herath arrived here this afternoon to attend the funeral of former prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia today, representing the Government of Sri Lanka.

He was received at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) this morning by Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Bangladesh and high officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), spokesperson of Sri Lankan High Commission in Dhaka told BSS. 

The flight was arrived here around 1 pm at the airport, HSIA’s spokesperson flight Lt Masud said. 

The Sri Lankan Foreign Minister went to join the funeral direct from the airport. 

The funeral ceremony is scheduled to be held at Manik Mia Avenue at 2 PM in Dhaka with foreign dignitaries, political leaders, and representatives from various countries expected to attend.
