DHAKA, Jan 23, 2026 (BSS) - Zia Parishad today held a condolence meeting and prayer gathering seeking forgiveness for the soul of late former three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
The program was held in Motijheel, jointly arranged by the Motijheel and Shahjahanpur thana units of Zia Parishad Dhaka Mohanagar.
Engineer Md. Abu Raihan, president of the Zia Parishad Motijheel Thana unit, presided over the event. Acting Chairman of Zia Parishad Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Latif attended as the chief guest, while Secretary General Prof. Dr. Md. Emtaz Hossain delivered the keynote address.
Among the special guests were M A Barek, chief coordinator of the Election Management Committee for Dhaka-8 constituency BNP-nominated candidate Mirza Abbas, Abdullahil Masud, senior joint secretary general of Zia Parishad, Prof. Abul Kalam Azad and agriculturist Monowarul Islam Enam.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Abdul Latif called on leaders and activists at all levels of Zia Parishad to work unitedly to ensure the victory of the 'Sheaf of Paddy' candidate in the February 12 election.
He urged everyone to uphold Tarique Rahman's slogan, "Let's build the country together, Bangladesh first."
He said Begum Khaleda Zia devoted her life to the nation and never compromised with injustice. Prof. Latif also appealed to those present to work for the victory of Dhaka-8 constituency candidate Mirza Abbas.
