DHAKA, Dec 30, 2025 (BSS) - France today expressed deep condolences over the death of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, recalling her significant role in shaping Bangladesh's national life and extending sympathy to her family and the people of Bangladesh.

In a condolence message, the French Embassy in Bangladesh said it "expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Begum Khaleda Zia, former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and the country's first female head of government."

The embassy noted her long public service, saying, "Throughout her long public career, Begum Zia played an important role in shaping Bangladesh's national life."

"At this time of mourning, France extends its thoughts to her family, her party and the people of Bangladesh," the message added.

The message concluded by saying that her legacy would be remembered.
