DHAKA, Aug 27, 2026 (BSS) - The third session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad begins today, with the sitting scheduled to start at 3:00 pm at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the capital.

The day's agenda includes nomination of the panel of chairmen, obituary references, questions and answers, call attention notices on matters of urgent public importance under Rule 71, private members' resolutions and legislative business.

Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Md. Nurul Islam Moni said the session could be a brief one lasting five, seven or 10 days, although its duration may be extended if necessary.

Speaking to journalists at the Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday, he said formation of the parliamentary standing committees would receive the highest priority during the session.

"The committees concerned will be finalized as soon as we receive the names of members from the opposition," he said.

The Chief Whip said around six important bills could be placed in the session, including proposed legislation relating to transfer of property, enforced disappearance and human rights protection.
