SANGSAD BHABAN, July 9, 2026 (BSS) - Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain today said the government will set kidney dialysis center at every upazila hospital across the country.
Speaking on a private member’s resolution moved by BNP MP from Naogaon-4 Iqramul Bari Tipu, the minister said, “Not only the bed upgradation of the hospitals, a 10-bed kidney dialysis centers will also be set up in every 101-bed upgraded hospitals at upazilas across the country.”
The government wants to extend kidney dialysis facilities at the remote rural areas, said the minster, adding that even separate diagnosis laboratories will also be installed at the rural upazila hospitals as the rural people can protect themselves from falling into the trap of clinics.
As part of ensuring quality health services, the government will provide new ambulances to all the hospitals in the next five years. Under the programme, 100 new ambulances will be distributed to 100 hospitals.
In addition to this, the health minister said the community clinics, health centers, 10-bed hospitals and 20-bed hospitals will be renovated through providing required physicians and logistics support and the works have already been started to this end.
Even the government will also upgrade 500-bed hospitals and 1000-bed hospitals in phases considering the availability of the government funds.
The target of the present government is to ensure health care for all and to provide health care to every citizen in line with the electoral manifestoes, he added.
“We realize and understand it is not their privilege, it is the basic and constitutional rights of the people to have the health services on the government arrangements. So, the government is committed to ensuring the health care services for the people,” he said.
“Our government led by Prime Minster Tarique Rahman is going to establish health facilities to ensure quality health services for the whole population of the country,” he told the parliament.
After the liberation, the health minister said Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman first established 30-bed hospitals at every upazilas across the country aiming to provide health care facilities for the poor people.
Later, Prime Minister Khaleda Zia had upgraded these upazila hospitals to 50-bed hospitals.
After that initiative, no government for long has focused on the health care facilities for the people, he added.
Now Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced to upgrade all the 50-bed hospitals to 101-bed and the health ministry has started PPP Project preparations for screening, assessing, and structuring a public project of upgrading these hospitals.
“At the end of the August we will go for the tender for upgrading all hospitals,” he added.
