SANGSAD BHABAN, June 25, 2026 (BSS)- Health and Family Welfare Minister
Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain today said the government has adopted a zero-
tolerance policy to make the country's health sector fully people-friendly
and free from corruption.

"A range of measures has been undertaken to build a transparent, accountable
and citizen-oriented healthcare system," he said while replying to a starred
question placed by ruling party lawmaker Jashim Uddin Ahmed from Chattogram-
14 in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS).

With Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, in the chair, Sakhawat Husain
said the government is continuing its efforts to ensure quality healthcare
services at people's doorsteps and has implemented a number of important
initiatives to curb corruption and the activities of middle-men in the health
sector.

He informed the House that digitalisation has been strengthened at every
level of healthcare delivery to improve service quality and reduce the scope
for interference by middlemen.

"The centralised medicine supply monitoring system has also been modernised
through an upgraded Supply Chain Management System," the minister said.

He added that the scope of telemedicine services has been expanded to make
healthcare more accessible to the public. "As a result, patient harassment
has decreased and access to specialist medical consultations has become
easier," Sakhawat continued.

The minister further said strong monitoring committees have been formed in
hospitals to collect patient feedback and regularly assess service quality.
"Administrative action is being taken against those found responsible for
irregularities or service-related lapses," he added.

Referring to the government's efforts to control the prices of essential
medicines, he said strict monitoring is in place and work is underway to
revise relevant policies to prevent excessive profiteering.

The health minister also informed Parliament that efforts are progressing to
gradually introduce health cards or an integrated health database for all
citizens. "The initiative is expected to reduce hassles in receiving
healthcare services and ensure quicker service delivery."

He added that regular drives are being conducted in coordination with local
administrations and law enforcement agencies to ensure a broker-free
environment in healthcare institutions.
